Amazon is one of the largest online retailers in the world. Since this platform is also governed by a strict algorithm, we would like to mention five important tips that help companies move their products higher up the rankings on Amazon.
1) In 2018 alone, Amazon made a turnover of 18 billion euros in Germany, and worldwide it was at 200 billion euros. To appear particularly high up in Amazon search results, companies must comply with the Amazon style guides. This includes, for example, that the product title is mentioned in a certain order: Brand + Department Name + Style / Shape + Product Name + Model Name. Important keywords belong in the title as well as in the product description.
2) In terms of search volume, it is advisable to compare the search volume of different terms in the same area. Amazon offers a tool for this purpose, with which particularly frequently searched terms can be viewed. In this way, it is possible for companies to reach a larger target group.
3) It is also recommended to use a Buy Box. This is assigned by Amazon once for each new product. But not every seller receives the Buy Box from Amazon. However, the retailer can change the assignment of this through various activities, for example, by making the price attractive and offering the product via Prime or otherwise exclusively. The seller obtains Prime status by selecting the “Shipping by Amazon” or “Prime by Seller” programs. The use of Prime also has a positive effect on Amazon’s ranking.
4) Of course, the presentation of products also plays a major role in sales. So you should offer customers as many good pictures of the product as possible and make them appealing. According to Amazon guidelines, products should be photographed against a white background and have a resolution of at least 1,000 pixels x 1,000 pixels. The seller should also publish at least seven images to show the products with all their details.
5) For faster growth and higher chances of being visible on Amazon, paid advertising options can be used. Amazon offers Sponsored Products or Sponsored Brands, so two different ad formats, to choose from.
