Google Don’ts

We often write about what you need to do for a better ranking, about new tools, tips, and tricks, and changes in the algorithm. However, there are also several practices that you definitely need to avoid while optimizing for Google.

Keywords

Keyword research and their correct usage are extremely important. But the dose makes the poison – in the past, there were websites where, instead of using content, keywords after keywords were listed on the site. This is known as “keyword stuffing”. The right way to use keywords is to integrate them in a way that makes sense contextually.

Keywords should also be used in their entirety, which means using not only the most popular keywords but also shorter versions of them, as well as their synonyms. In addition, avoid repeating the same keywords in every post, since this could lead to keyword cannibalization and cause your posts to not appear anymore.

CX and UX

Content experience and user experience are also high up on the list of to-dos. Basically, Google aims to create as much of a user-friendly and user-centric platform as possible. Part of this is that all websites with the user as the focal point end up a lot better off. It is just as important for content to be innovative and new, not just copied from another website (something that Google punishes). Networking works here as well, in the sense of engaging with and having links to and from other websites in the same branch. By the way, you don’t need to worry about losing your visitors by them wandering off to a linked page. What also boosts user-friendliness is making sure that the navigation and the structure of the website line up, that there are no bugs, that the page load speed is not too slow, and that the website is set up for mobile devices as well as desktop computers.

You also need to keep in mind that patience is needed while working on a good ranking. A website does not rank 1st in search results overnight. Developing an approach that is user-friendly requires time and experience.
