As of recently, users are now shown new attributes for restaurants. In Local Search, users are informed about which alternatives restaurants offer in the current situation because of COVID-19. “Dine-in,” “Delivery,” and “Takeout” can each be marked here by the company with a red x or a green checkmark to spare visitors chaos and confusion.
Barry Schwartz, an SEO expert, reported on the new Google attributes in Google Local Search for the first time at the SEO Roundtable. Tony McCreath from the Google My Business team had tweeted that even more options were in development, including for example “Curbside Pickup”.
The practical aspect of Google Search Attributes is that a lot of chaos, uncertainty, and annoyance on the part of the customer is avoided in the first place. Also, the companies see the new attribute as a way to help and give their restaurants a chance to keep their heads above water in times of the Corona crisis. Maybe more users will also decide to get takeout as a result. And even beyond the COVID-19 crisis, attributes of this kind could become a basic feature for restaurants.
