What a CTR Increase Has to do With FAQs

Would you like to increase your visibility in Google? Then reading this article will serve you well since we would like to let you know about a good and simple way to get better Google rankings.

A FAQ, short for “Frequently Asked Questions” page is one of many options to expand search results and to make your website more interesting. FAQ pages often end up as gathering spots for visitors who have questions or are unclear about the service or product offered. FAQs are implemented using structured data and offer lots of advantages. Sites with FAQs receive more attention in search results, have higher click-through rates, and get more traffic – plus, FAQs add value to a website.

In Google search results, FAQs are shown as a small box. Due to this, these websites will automatically be shown higher in rankings. Google decides which questions will be shown, and the answer remains hidden until a user clicks on the question.

So, what’s the best way to use FAQs on your website or have them shown in Google searches? Keep in mind that nothing is guaranteed, and it is up to Google to decide. However, the quality of a website is in fact improved by having a FAQ page in the first place.

As a general rule, it’s recommended to generate four to five questions per subpage. Before you create these, please read Google’s guide on FAQ structured data and how to implement it on your website, found on the Google Search Central blog.

The first step is to come up with questions and answers. Questions and answers should be formulated tactfully and be easy to understand. The answers ideally consist of three to six sentences; this short length serves to generate attention and interest in the site among visitors.

These questions and answers are then added at the end of the webpage. Having the FAQs at the end of the page is the standard, but you can actually add them at any point on the page.

Finally, a FAQ JSON code needs to be generated and added to the page. This step ensures that the questions and answers you created will also be shown and recognized in regard to search results. Schema generators can help to create this code. For this, questions and answers are entered into input fields in the snippet tool. The code generated can then be added to your site. This finalizes the integration of the FAQs.

Additionally, those who are interested can also have their page re-indexed by Google.

It can take several days or even weeks for the FAQs to be released, but this process can be sped up by entering the domain into the Google Search Console. This will initiate a request for re-indexing.
