Yahoo blocks automatic forwarding

The provider Yahoo blocked automatic forwarding a few days ago. This was said to be due to maintenance work.
But many believe it was disabled to prevent customers from leaving Yahoo.

About a week ago, it was reported that Yahoo was scanning customer emails for the US Secret Service for an extended period of time. The order for this apparently came from the FISC secret court. About 2 weeks ago, Yahoo reported that criminal hackers had stolen various data from about 500 million customers.

Customers who now want to switch to another email provider, but still want to receive Yahoo’s messages, have to set up an automatic forwarding. However, this is exactly what is not possible, as Yahoo has blocked this function.

There is no fixed date yet when this function will be available again, but according to Yahoo it should be functional again within the next few days.

The network operator Verizon does not really like this either. It wanted to buy Yahoo for around 4.83 billion dollars. But that was before the data theft and surveillance were made public. Verizon is now asking for a price cut of 20% or 1 billion dollars.

Let’s see what the future holds for Yahoo and Verizon as well as for the disappointed customers.
